The nesting has begun.

Faced with who knows how many days of isolation from the impending blizzard, I’ve tapped my inner homemaking guru.

Pantry shelves vacuumed?

Decades-old staples tossed?

Rices, pastas and legumes sorted and safely stored?

Check and check.

I’ve stocked up on yeast, root veggies and toilet paper. (Don’t laugh … last time we had a major storm, the local hoarders decimated our town’s toilet paper stock.)

I’ve made muffins, simmered pasta sauce and even defrosted the Thanksgiving turkey carcass for a kettle of homemade broth. All that’s left now is the waiting.

And the eating. Nobody in this house is going to go hungry while the snow falls down.

They need energy to help me clean.
